Cotswold Country Park (previously Keynes Country Park)

The Cotswold Country Park and Beach (previously Keynes Park) is one of the country parks that can be found within the boundary of the Cotswold Water Park. In years gone by the dirt track around the lakes got very mudding in winter and during periods of prolonged wet weather. Now, however, the path around the lakes has been improved and consists of stone/hardcore.

Over the years more and more facilities have been added and Keynes Park is now one of the most developed of the lakeland areas in the Cotswold Water Park. Neigh Bridge Country Park on the outskirts of Somerford Keynes is nearby, but far less developed.

Cotswold Country Park charges a small entrance fee. The admission was previously charged per car, but has now changed to per person. See admission charges below.

At Cotswold Country Park you will find :

Millenium Park Centre = Keynes Park  

Millennium Park Centre

This is a sustainable green oak building near the main entrance to Cotswold Country Park. It is heated and cooled by lake energy. The centre houses the visitor information point, shop (with maps, refreshments etc.), winter café and periodic exhibitions. The oak hall available for hire.

     

Bathing Beach

Open daily, June- September 1-5pm - weather permitting. Lifeguards on duty when indicated. Children must be supervised. Water quality is monitored regularly by the Environment Agency and achieved the highest ‘Blue Flag’ quality in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Café

During the summer months the lakeside cafe on the edge of the South lake serves hot drinks, refreshments and light snacks.

During the winter months the Keynes Park shop serves hot drinks and cakes; Ice creams and cold drinks are on sale all year round in the Keynes Park shop.

Barbecues

Small BBQs available on a first come first served basis, one of which is particularly suitable for disabled access. Three group BBQs for up to 80 people, popular at weekends so book early!. There is a small marquee also available for hire.

Keynes Park - Head for Heights

High ropes course providing "exhilarating and unique combination of 7 Awesome High Adventure Activities (High Ropes Course) and 254 Amazing Team Challenge Events (Low Ropes Course)".

Lakeside Walks and Cycling

Both lakes are surrounded by paths so that visitors can walk and cycle round both lakes. Wooden sculptures can be found on the Wood Sculpture Trail (the wooden sculpture pictured on the left can be found near the entrance to Keynes Park).

‘Just Walk’ timed walks for health and fitness. Trim Trail and Wildlife discovery trail. Sanded volleyball and a basketball court can also be found in Keynes Country Park.

     

Children's Play

Two large play areas have been constructed including the famous gravel diggers, play fort, and Alice in Wonderland slide and boardwalk.

Organised Visits

Rangers and Water Park staff lead organised visits for colleges, schools and groups. A modest charge is made to cover costs. An educational leaflet and a Key Stage 2 pack is available which lists the popular educational programmes. More information can be obtained by calling 01285 861459 to discuss specific requirements for a tailor made visit.

Bike Hire

Bicycle hire is available from Cotswold Country Park in association with Ride 24/7 Cycle Shop in Cirencester.

Waterland Activity Centre

Provides outdoor pursuits for young people with outdoor pursuits coupled to training for team building using our own qualified trainers or yours, for business development. Outdoor pursuits has been used for years to Integrate teams together and inspire motivation from young people and adults alike. Put together in the right quantities you have safety, fun & learning to meet the challenge of today's lifestyle. The Waterpark area is an ideal venue for a holiday and you can participate in outdoor pursuits at the same time at one of the South West's popular Outdoor Activity Centres. You can book on to a RYA Sailing Course or book a sailing course with two hours instruction.You can participate in Powerboat Training and gain a recognised qualification at the end of the course. So much to do if you have the time to do it. Come and do your activities Outdoor.
